Fashion Business & Merchandising Course
Next Course Start Date: 13th of March 2010 (Saturday's)
The fashion industry consists of more career opportunities than just fashion design, pattern-making and garment construction. Of the approximately 125 000 people working in the Australian clothing industry approximately 21 000 are involved in producing clothes.
To be successful in the fashion industry, students must develop a sense of what the consumers want, what works, what sells and how to effectively market it. The AIFD Fashion Business & Merchandising course is designed to provide students with a well rounded understanding of how the fashion industry works while providing students with valuable skills in analysing future trends, sales and marketing techniques.
Career paths in the fashion industry include fashion styling, fashion marketing & public relations, fashion production manager, fashion sales representation, fashion merchandising, buying, visual merchandising, fashion journalism, event coordination, fashion forecasting, retail sales & management and of course the Fashion Design. All of these career paths require a well rounded understanding of the fashion industry and how it works, as well as sales and marketing skills, fashion trend recognition and forecasting skills.
Learn how to forecast fashion trends, generate PR for a fashion label, and how to attract media attention for a fashion label. Gain invaluable insights into manufacturing fashion products, and importing products from overseas from a designer and production manager with years of experience dealing with onshore and offshore manufacturers and importing products.
