Fashion Business & Styling
Diploma of Fashion & Textiles Merchandising + Certificate III in Styling (Fashion, Image & Media)
The Australian Institute of Creative Design offers the ability to obtain qualifications in fashion business and fashion styling at the same time, over just one year!
If a career as a stylist, fashion buyer, fashion journalist / editor, image consultant, marketing or sales consultant, PR representative, manager, fashion business owner or event coordinator sounds like it is for you, then the Diploma of Fashion & Textiles Merchandising & Certificate III in Styling (Fashion, Image & Media) combined degree is for you!
Why study business and styling?
Get the edge on your competitors - by having specific fashion industry training you will stand out from the crowd. We provide our students with highly relevant and practically based training that develops our student's knowledge and skills so that they are capable and confident to work in this challenging industry.
Fashion Business
Business skills are highly sort after and the fashion industry is quite unique. Understanding how larger companies determine the fashion styles, sizes, colours, quantities and which labels to buy, based on sales data and not just personal opinion, for example, is vital for anyone working in the fashion industry.
Having training and experience related specifically to the fashion industry - rather than just a general business degree - will allow students to gain work in the area of their passion quicker and easier. Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the fashion industry, fashion trends, cycles, merchandising practices, business planning, sales, product development and more.
Fashion Styling
Styling is a booming career! Having a stylist is no longer just for the rich and famous! Everyday people are employing stylists to help them improve their image or simily dress for a special occassion. But there is much more to styling than just having the ability to put clothes together. Stylists have to be constantly up with the latest fashion trends, know what is available in fashion stores, understand how to deal with people from all backgrounds and of all personalities, have an understanding of the history of fashion, colour and much more.
Stylists also work for fashion magazines - styling photoshoots, writing articles and selecting the products that feature in the magazines. Stylists also organise fashion events and parades, speak at seminars, advise companies on their uniform designs and dress codes and much more.
Because stylists have to be so closely in touch with the fashion trends, what people really like, as well as what suits a variety of people, they also make good fashion buyers. With the combined training in fashion business and styling, students can get work as fashion buyers, fashion editors/journalists and more.
